The Ladies second game of the season was at home with a 10:15 meet to get in some modelling practice for our headshots.
Umpires for today’s game were Rachel and Charlie, who just couldn’t get their tech working.
During the warm up, the girls kept to the new tradition of running the wrong way round the pitch. Many strong shots at our goal keeper Alex who made it look effortless to save.
Stratford have push back and quickly apply strong pressure onto Boro’s defence. Kazza and Cathy, the two full backs use good communication to build back our shape and gain back possession.
Stratford had a break through which resulted to a short corner.
Stratford hit to the top of the D however it is stopped quickly by Rachel who was running one.
The ladies can’t seem to settle so another short is given to Stratford.
Boro battled hard and slowly work their way up the pitch with Rachel, Jo and Leanne driving forward with the ball. A Stratford player is given a card for not tracking back five and Boro take advantage by winning a short corner. Emily injects the short ball to Kazza who strikes on target hitting an opponents foot resulting in another short for the ladies. The ball goes out to the top of the D but bobbles awkwardly however Jo controls it and has a close shot.
Stratford get a break away and score making the score 1-0.
Umpires called half time with the score at 1-0 to Stratford. Coach Colyn gave an inspirational team talk with positives and things to take into the second half.
Second half starts with a Boro pushback. The triangular passing was continued with Jane and Elise driving up the left hand side.Boro gains momentum up the pitch using triangles from our wingers Evie and Sue. A run from Ellie takes her into the D and a brilliant pass to Georgia who takes a strike and fires one past the GK… making the game all level at 1-1. The brilliant goal being the reason she was voted man of the match. Stratford came back strong tho and score making getting a 2-1 lead however also gaining another green card in the process. With only 10 minutes to go Stratford make a breakthrough and Cat sprints back to defend as the opposition take the shot the stick follows through and Cat gets a stick to the face. The Boro ladies are wishing her a speedy recovery.
Final whistle… Wellingborough 1,Stratford 2 .
Man of the match- Georgia for her incredible goal
Dick of the day- Colyn for back chatting with the umpires and getting a telling off from Charlie.
